Check out our new classes, full day sessions and clubs!
On this page you will find our offerings for:
- Classes
- Clubs
- Half Day Sessions
- Full Day Sessions
We are offering some of our favorite classes from the past as well as some fun new classes. We are also continuing on with Robot Girls’ Club that will meet on Sunday nights. In addition, we are going to be offering full day programs for certain days when NYC public schools are not in session.
All of our programs have a few things in common:
- Kids bring home a robot that they have built (except for open play sessions)
- We share our knowledge of mechanical engineering and electrical principles with kids as well. We bring out toys and other objects that help convey how electricity, gears, motors, and other things work, and reinforce their learning by calling on prior knowledge and experience.
- The classes are fun. Super fun! It’s our goal to make sure the kids all have a blast while doing and learning awesome things.
All of our classes are listed below. Find the one that is right for your child! All programs are designed as drop-off (except for Robot Girls’ Club, see below). Class prices vary because of the different material cost and length of classes.
If you have any questions, you can always contact us and we can help you choose the right class.

Robot Girls’ Club
What will we build? We are very excited to offer our girls program! This will be a five-week session which meets on Sundays from 5:30-7:30 pm. Unlike our other programs, parents have the option to stay and build with their daughters. Our hope is to create a community of parents and daughters who
can build and learn together.
You can sense the enthusiasm and creativity that the sessions bring out in this great video from our initial Robot Girls Club.
The curriculum will be similar to our after school programs. Each week we will have a robot project that each girl will build and customize. Most weeks, the girls will take home a robot that they created. As usual, we will be teaching the engineering concepts behind how the robots move and work.
Pizza will be ordered each week, club members are welcome to the pizza, or can bring their own food.
What Ages? 5-9 year olds
What Dates/Times?
All sessions run from 5:30-7:30 pm

The cost is $15/hour. The open play sessions are open to kids who are as young as 5 and as old as 9. There is a 10% sibling discount.

Triomph Fitness
Bend and Bloom Yoga
Captain Quinn’s Bootcamp

Registration: Unlike our other classes, you don't need to sign up ahead of time. If you have already created an account through our new booking system, Active Network, you can just arrive with your child, check in and go.
If you haven't created an account, we will ask you to create an account the first time you arrive for drop off so we have all of the necessary information about you and your child in case of an emergency. This should take about 5-8 minutes.
Or to speed up the process, you can create an account now by going here. If you do create an account ahead of time - be sure to continue in the setup process until you get to the stage where you are asked to create a login and password. The final screen is a confirmation screen. If you don't get the confirmation screen, your registration isn't complete.
We don't need to know specifics about when you will show up or for how long your child will stay. You can tell us all of that information when you arrive on the day of.
What Are the Hours? 9:00 am- 11:30 am
Important Note: These sessions (and all of our classes) are drop-offs. If you feel your child may not be ready for a drop-off class, we promise we will be around for many years to come and you can bring them to a class when they are ready! Thanks!
Flying/Floating "Robots"
What will we build? The children will create flying & floating robots. Though these creations will not have electronics inside, they will be awesome! We have a special apparatus that we created which we hoist all the way up to our 14 foot ceiling to release the parachuting robots. We also have a vertical wind tunnel where the kids can test their flying creations. It is a great lesson on lift, drag and is super fun! The room will be filled with lots of laughs and smiles as the kids tweak and design their floating & flying creations!

Robot Storybook & Shrinky Dinks Class
What will we build? We designed this class for our littlest robot enthusiasts! Each child will receive a storybook, a robot they customized, and a cool shrinky dink robot necklace that they decorated themselves.
We will begin the class by reading the action, adventure, and imagination packed storybook, Robox, by master illustrator Mark Rogalski. We will then go step-by-step with each child teaching them to build and decorate their very own 16” tall robot. Finally each child will color and design their own robot shrinky dink necklace or keychain.

Doodling Robot
What will we build? Want to make a robot that can create a masterpiece? Join us for Doodling Robots! We will work with your child to make their very own robot that draws beautiful things as it skittles, scuttles and jitters around. Each child will be able to design, build and create their very own robot to take with them at the end of the session. This is one of our favorite robots!

Box Bot
What will we build? We will be building a cool Box Bot. The class includes allmaterials and tools required to build this robot.
We will begin the class by having the kids embellish, design and decorate the box. We will then go step-by-step and teach the kids how to build the robot. During the class we will teach the students simple lessons on cams and motors.

Tin Can Robot
What will we build? We will be building an awesome Tin Can Robot. The class includes all materials and tools required to build this robot.
We teach the kids how to build the robot step by step. During this class we will teach the kids simple lessons on cams and motors. We'll also let the kids embellish and decorate the robots and set them loose in a robot arena.
What Ages? 8-9 year olds
.
Dynamo Robot
What will we build? We'll be building the Dynamo Robot in this class. This robot is unique amongst those we build because it is powered by hand-cranking the little guy - not by running him off a battery. This provides a great opportunity for teaching a bit about power and electricity. Dynamo is a really fun robot to build and to deck out.
What Ages? 7-9 year olds
Brush Bot
What will we build? The class includes all materials and tools required to build this cute little bot. We will start the class by allowing the kids to customize components of the kits to make them their own.
This will be a fun, exciting and educational intro into simple mechanics, motors, and circuits. We will end the class with a robot race where the kids can put their robots to the test to see which robot can make it across the finish line first.

What will we build? We created this class for 7-9 year olds who wanted to learn to solder. We will be building the same robot as the 10-12 year old class but will limit the number of kids in this class to six. This will allow us to provide more personalized instruction for younger makers.
Kids will be learning to solder in this workshop, and they'll hone their craft by soldering a blinking LED pin. Then, we'll be building our own robots from scratch by taking apart an electrical fan, and using the parts along with some other found objects to create an awesome vibrating robot.
No previous soldering experience required.

What will we build? This class is based on a portion of our very successful 2012 Alternative Materials summer session. During that session we were delighted by the diversity of the creations that the kids made.
This class is similar to the Electronic Stuffed Animal class we do with older children (below) but it has a bit more structure. The kids will still be building creatures on their own but there will be more direction. They will pick from four existing designs and then incorporate LEDs into the creation. We won't be using motors in these creations but the lights will look awesome!

During the class the kids will be designing and creating their own custom stuffed animal/robot/creature. But these won't be your typical stuffed creations, they will integrate lights, motors, wires and battery packs to make moving soft sculptures.
Important: This class is pretty tricky and requires a lot of patience and maturity. The kids will be designing their own creations (original sewing pattern, customized circuit integration, etc). We recommend that your child already knows how to hand-sew before taking this class.
