Busy Bots in the City!

The SnowBots have been busy in the City of Philadelphia!

Working with the Family & Community Engagement  team at the School District of Philadelphia allowed us to build with children during their monthly Family Saturday events March through May 2024. The kids learned how to work with motors, battery backs, and how to create circuits. Parents got to participate in learning how to build robots too! It was exciting to hear from our returning builders who were still playing with their robots one month later.

PARTNERING WITH SCHOOLS

The 4th and 5th graders enrolled in the Artistic and Cultural Enrichment (ACE) Program sponsored by Community Council on Health Systems at Martha Washington Academics Plus School enjoyed their five-week spring residency with the Robot Foundry. When the students saw the orange bag, they knew an action packed adventure was on the way! We heard feedback from builders on the last day like “this was my favorite class” and “I can’t wait to come back for summer camp!”

We spent April 22nd with the Roosevelt Elementary School Bears supporting their Earth Day festivities, and building robots with the 3rd and 4th graders! The kids did not hesitate to jump into a challenging robot build that worked with axles, balsa wood, propellers, axle wheels, and battery packs to create loops of electricity that powered up a cool robot.

The Office of Children and Families for the City of Philadelphia hosted its 2nd Annual Parent & Youth Resource Fair at the Philadelphia Convention Center. We were proud to be counted amongst hundreds of incredible organizations in Philadelphia doing herculean work to uplift, mentor, guide, and support children and families in every possible aspect of life! Parents and caregivers were invited to join our mailing list for a chance at winning a FREE robotics class.

The Chestnut Hill Home and Garden Festival was a glorious day of collaboration, building, making new connections, and supporting small businesses! Our vendor space was located outside of Jenks Academy of the Arts and Sciences, and an easy find for eager builders under 13. Children and families joined in our robotics lessons and spent time working through three lessons from our curriculum. Everyone who visited our table was invited to join our mailing list for a chance a FREE robotics class with us. A R Workshop Chestnut Hill, the Chestnut Hill Business Association, and the Chestnut Hill Local were tremendous partners in our success.
