Brush Bot

Yesterday I spent the day building a robot arena and a few simple robots. What a great life, right? My favorite robot of the bunch was the Brush Bot by Toysmith which is a really cute, simple robot made from two brushes, a motor and goggly eyes. I bought it online from Amazon for $9.86.

I was really impressed with the ease of assembly on this one. It was definitely designed by some people who understand manufacturing and building. Little bosses fit perfectly into mating holes, it was nearly impossible to put things together incorrectly. They did a great job of molding in things into the plastic like automatic nut holders which mean additional tools are unnecessary. The only tool that was needed was a philips head screw driver.

Pros:
– Very quick (took me 20 mins)
– Super fun!
– Incredibly well thought out assembly design.
– Goggly eyes make you smile and give an inanimate object a lot of character
– Movement seems like it might be lame but in reality is super fast and entertaining.
– Had a nice little bag of spare parts, just in case

Cons:
– I can’t really think of any other than it can’t do your laundry. I would highly recommend this kit.
