Summer Circuits Parent/Caregiver Handbook
Brooklyn Robot Foundry Manhattan Downtown
We’re looking forward to building with your child! Here’s everything you need to know before the big day…
Location
272 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014
(Village Community School in the West Village)
Our classroom for the children to enjoy their day is a spacious, corner room with floor to ceiling windows. Children will have access to the lunchroom, outdoor rooftop and playground, and an indoor gym (for those rainy days).
Drop-Off + Pick-up
Doors open at 8:55am. Check-in window closes at 9:20am. As you sign in your child we will verify that we have all the proper information on file.
Standard Day pick-up is at 3pm. Extended Day runs until 5pm.
Drop-off & Pick-up location: a check-in/check-out table will be set up in the area directly outside the lunchroom. The lunchroom lobby is located past the security desk as you walk into the school.
For Pick-Up, please have a photo ID ready to verify as the person/grown-up allowed to pick up your child.
If you know you will have a different drop-off or pick-up time outside our standard times, we’d appreciate if you can email us to give us a heads up (email below)!
Important:
- Check-in time/table will close at 9:20am. For any late arrivals, we will have a sign with a phone number to reach a staff member. Please call that number and someone will come downstairs to check you/your child in.
- For pick-up outside our standard (3pm) and extended day (5pm) times, please call the number placed on our table and someone will come check you/your child out.
- We understand delays happen, so we allow a 15-minute grace period for pick-up. Late pick-up outside of this grace window can be subject to additional charges.
- The lunchroom will be used as a holding area for the children while we sign everyone in and out of camp. Due to the school’s policy, only staff and students are permitted in the lunchroom.
- For Bright Horizons Back-Up Care families: If you have not registered through our Brooklyn Robot Foundry registration form, we will have a paper form for you to fill out by hand the morning of. Your child must be registered in our system in order for them to attend our program. It is recommended you fill out our registration online prior to your camp date. If you need the link to our registration form again, please email

What to Bring
- Nut-free lunch
- Nut-free snack (2 if staying for 3-5pm Extended Day)
- Water bottle
- Any necessary medication (e.g. EpiPen, inhaler, allergy medication)
- At check-in, we will ask for you to take out any emergency medication (e.g. EpiPen) and put it into a ziplock bag, which we will place in our to-go medical bag. This bag comes with us anytime we bring the children outside of the classroom (e.g. outdoor playtime), so we can ensure immediate access to time-sensitive medication. You’re welcome to prepare this in advance, but if not—no worries, we can also pack this up when you check in (we’ll have ziplock bags). Just make sure it is clearly labeled with your child’s full name.
- Consider bringing a set of extra clothes for your (young) child to change into, in case of any accidents. If your child will be joining our camp for the full week, feel free to leave your child’s extra set of clothing in our classroom. If so, please make sure you put the extra clothing in a separate bag to leave behind for the week and is clearly labeled with your child’s full name.
What to Wear
- Please dress for the weather (we may go outside, weather permitting)
- Apply sunscreen and/or bug spray before arriving if needed
Typical Schedule (approximate)

Additional
Our team of trained teachers follow strict safety protocols to ensure that all students are always safe and secure. All of our teachers are certified in CPR and First Aid, and are trained in classroom management as well as tactics in working with children of varying behavior. We also prioritize inclusivity and strive to create a welcoming and accepting environment for all children. Please let us know ahead of time if there are any accommodations or medical information about your child, so our staff can provide the most awesome experience.
FAQ
- What number can I call if I need to reach you in the middle of the day?
- Call or text 917-274-7843
- Will the children be separated into different age groups?
- No, all children will build together. Our summer program robots are designed to be suitable for ages 4 to 12. The robots are more complex than our regular one-hour school classes (which are designed for specific age groups), but since children will have a lot more time to build in our summer sessions, even the young ones will be able to finish.
- Will my child be with their friend(s)?
- All of our students will remain together all day. If you’ve requested your child to be with a friend, we’ll try to seat them together at the same table.
- Is there food provided?
- For safety reasons, we do not provide any food. Please send a nut-free lunch and snack(s) with your child. It is important we remain a nut-free environment due to many children with allergies.
- Will you be going outside?
- We will be heading outdoors if the weather permits. If inclement weather, excessive heat, or an unhealthy air index, we will do extra movement and playtime indoors in the gym or in the classroom instead.
